JOB TITLE: Estimator


JOB DUTIES:
Construction Estimator performs accurate project estimates, coordinates subcontractor bids, uses advanced software for efficient planning and construction project management.  Specific job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Review project plans, requirements & specifications.  Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.  Prepare quantity take-off for the material using On screen takeoff (OST) or Bluebeam.  Determine the labor and resources needed for the project that is bidding using the data from OST and site logistics using Microsoft Excel.  Responsible for project planning and control, including creating and understanding the project schedules for projects planning in the preconstruction phase using the software’s like Microsoft Project, P6 primavera.  Review drawings, drawing revisions, specifications using Bluebeam.  Coordinate subcontract solicitations and job walks.  Identify labor, material, and time requirements.  Review drawings, drawing revisions, specifications using Bluebeam.  Responsible for Change order management, including creating change orders and providing detailed quantity takeoffs.  Prepare construction estimates for the projects that are at design stages like 10% Design Development, 100% CD (Construction documents), and also for GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) set of drawings with the historical data using Timberline, OST, MS Excel and Timberline.  Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules.  Compare competitive trade bids solicited from the sub-contractors and vendors using Microsoft Excel.  Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Area Manager and VP of preconstruction.  Secure all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters).  Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractors.  Participate in bid compilation on bid day.  Provide insights and VE (value engineering) options for the preliminary and hard bids to the General Contractors’ to have the advantage in bidding process.  Responsible for reading and interpreting the Geotech report and project specs especially in Div 03 for the concrete scope of work.  Keep abreast of the times and apply new software’s to stay competitive in the industry.  Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award.  Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable).  Maintain good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors.  Review and estimate change orders and other cost impacts.  Review & identify constructability issues with operations staff.  Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


JOB REQUIREMENT:
At least a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a closely related field plus 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience working as an Estimator. In lieu of the above, we also accept a Master’s degree in civil engineering or construction Management or a closely related field plus minimum three (3) years of experience working as an Estimator. Foreign degree equivalent is acceptable. We’ll also accept any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience. Experience should include minimum one (1) year of experience working with On-Screen Takeoff, such as quantity takeoff, labor takeoff, material takeoff; Timberline; Bluebeam; Construction estimates; Project planning and control; Change order management; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Project.


HOURS: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
